I Create Art West End
West End State School After School Art Classes
Days and Times: Monday 3:00 - 4:30pm
Tuesday 3:00 - 4:30pm
Wednesday 3:00 - 4:30pm
Thursday 3:00 – 4:30pm
Teachers: Alicia Lane and Mirjam Stevens
Contact email: [email protected] for more information
Suitable for children in grade 1-6 or if a child turns 6 in prep.
The classes are taught on the school premises and students walk straight from their classroom to the art classroom at the end of the school day (students are encouraged to pack a bit of extra food for afternoon tea as an after school snack greatly improves their concentration skills). Senior students can come down at 2:45pm after the bell. These classes are most suited for children attending West End State School, though children from other schools are always welcome. Classes usually start at about 3.15 once all students have arrived and the roll has been taken.
These art classes offer a fun and exciting art program using and exploring a wide variety of materials and techniques, such as drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, collage, paper mache, mixed media etc.
Through Alicia and Mirjam’s gentle guidance and tuition your child will learn self-expression, originality, risk taking, problem solving, experimentation and most importantly, will build confidence in their own abilities. Students will also be exposed to a variety of classical, modern and contemporary art and art periods and gain some understanding of how artists worked and apply their ideas.
Every term will focus on drawing and painting skills as well as another technique to be announced before the start of each term.
For examples of student work please visit the student gallery to see some of the amazing art students have made in the I Create Art West End classes.
Even though aprons are supplied, students are encouraged to wear older clothes as an apron is not always sufficient (often students wear an older school shirt on art days or change into another t-shirt).
All materials are provided.
For further information or to book your child please email Alicia at [email protected]
Bookings are essential.
