Junior Students Information:
These classes offer a fun and exciting art program that explore a wide variety of materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, collage, paper-mache, mixed media etc.
Through Mirjam’s gentle guidance and tuition your child will learn art skills, self-expression, originality, risk taking, problem solving, experimentation and most importantly build confidence in their own abilities. Students will also be exposed to a variety of classical, modern and contemporary art and artists and gain insight into how these artists worked and what their ideas were.
Every term will focus on drawing and painting skills as well as another technique to be announced before the start of each term.
Students are encouraged to wear older clothes as an apron is not always sufficient.
All materials are provided.
Don’t forget to check out the student gallery to see some of the amazing art that students have made in the Junior Art Classes.
Senior Students Information:
No Prior artistic experience is needed for these classes as anyone can learn to draw, paint and sculpt. It's a skill like any other that needs practice and a willingness to learn and experiment with a variety of materials and techniques.
In the senior classes students have more autonomy and can choose whichh materials they would like to work with (drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, mixed media, construction etc.) and can select their own subjects and themes to work on. These classes are ideal for students interested in creating a folio for high school or university entry. If you don't know what to work on Mirjam is there to help guide you with your choices, or you could also do what the junior students are doing or take their ideas as a starting point for your own artwork.
All materials within reason are provided. For example large canvasses or different paint than provided in the classes need to be purchased by the student.
Large clay pieces will also incur an extra cost per weight after firing for both the bisque and glaze firing.
Aprons are supplied, though students are encouraged to wear older clothes as an apron is not always sufficient.
Small class numbers ensure individual guidance and attention.
Go to the student gallery to see examples of student work.
